Embracing Slow Fashion:
The Main Goal of Slow Fashion
The primary goal of slow fashion is to shift our mindset from disposable clothing to investment pieces. Instead of buying clothing that will be discarded after a few wears, slow fashion encourages the purchase of high-quality items that will withstand the test of time. This reduces the need for frequent replacements, leading to less waste in landfills. Slow fashion also seeks to empower consumers with information about the production process, allowing them to make choices that align with their values.

Hello, 2023!
Hello Dearest! Another year has come and gone, and we’re so very grateful that you have been with us on our journey! As we settle into the new year, you may or may not have noticed that the Fall/Winter 2022 collection still hasn’t dropped. “So what gives?” you ask. Well, the truth of the matter is
FW22 Update, etc.
It has been some time since our last update, so I wanted to drop by to share with you some of the happenings here at BRYAN van HAUGHTON. TL:DR at the bottom of this post. 🥰
The Complete Pre-Order Process
If you’ve seen our recent Instagram Story, you may have seen a brief outline of how our pre-order process works, but we wanted to give you even more insight! So whether you’re a repeat customer or you’ve got your cursor hovering over the Checkout button but need a little more clarity, keep reading! This post is a little long but it’s informative!
“Perfect” Isn’t Real
I’m a Virgo, so I’m a critical perfectionist by nature and whether you believe in that stuff or not, it couldn’t be truer for me if I wrote it myself. My Joan Crawford-level neurosis and my deep need for everything to be “just-so” (the way I want the décor on an end table in the living room, or the way I like the mugs facing in the kitchen cupboard even though absolutely no one aside from my fiancé, best friend or I will ever see them). Bless them.
BRYAN van HAUGHTON:
Unlike fast fashion retailers (F21, H&M, SHEIN, etc.) who constantly overproduce large quantities of lesser quality, trendy “throwaway” goods that will likely end up being destroyed and discarded, BRYAN van HAUGHTON is a brand that aims to help push the Slow Fashion movement forward by offering classic styles that are produced on a small scale, made to last many seasons.
The Perfect Print
During the Spring of 2021, I spent an awful lot of time looking up at the storm clouds breaking apart during sunset after one of our rare rainy days here in California’s Central Valley. I hadn’t really thought about relaunching the brand at that point, but the more I saw the colors, the grays and deep blues and pastel pinks, the more I was inspired to begin a new chapter in life—and in fashion! (Continued after the photos!)
Perfecting The Fit
Hello, dearest! I hope you have been staying healthy and enjoying the holiday season. I’ve been spending most of my days in comfortable sweatpants and wool sweaters, as is evident in the Blouse fitting video. I wanted to share with you some things that have surprised and excited me on the road to launch.
Our Story
Bryan van Haughton returns to the fashion industry after a nearly decade-long hiatus with the relaunch of his eponymous label, BRYAN van HAUGHTON. In 2012, at the age of 23, the designer was in the process of closing his first label, House of Fetch Couture, created when he was just 14 years old, which he cites as his “schooling years”.
The Importance of Patience
I am admittedly impatient (my rising sign is Virgo). While I nearly bubble over with anticipation of receiving my final samples back from my factory—mind you, we’re currently smack-dab in the middle of development of our upcoming, highly anticipated Spring Summer 2022 collection— I very often find myself pattern-making for the very styles my factory is taking care of.
Our Responsibility
You, like all of us, are concerned about our planet; and why wouldn’t you be? It’s our only home. Many people have claimed over the years that fashion is either the second or third-highest polluting industry in the world. While it’s quite difficult to say exactly where it falls on the pollutant ranking since very few studies have been consistent, some things cannot be ignored.
The Why Behind the What
So you’ve seen a little bit of what we’re working on, but we haven’t really gotten into the Why—until now.
